Harry E. "Bud" Van Horn, Jr, age 86, of New Providence, PA., died suddenly on Monday October 11, 2010 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
He was the husband of Louise V. Boyd Van horn, Jr with whom he shared eight years of marriage.
Born in the Boro of Schickshinny in Luzerne County, PA., he was the son of the late Harry E. and Ella Ryman Van Horn, Sr.
Bud was a Highly Decorated Veteran of WW II serving in the United States Army. He served his Country Proudly as a Cannoneer in Battles and Campaigns GO 33 and 40 WD 45, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Purple Heart, Medal of Good Conduct, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, 1 Bronze Arrowhead and 1 Oak Leaf Cluster.
Bud was employed by GM at the Boxwood Road Plant in Newport, DE for almost 25 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 435 of Wilmington, DE.
He attended and was a member of the Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church in Nottingham, PA.
In addition to his wife Bud is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Marie Watson of Bear, De, Terry Lee Beach of Anderson, SC, step-children, Chauncey W. Boyd of Oxford, PA, Lu Ann McClune of Kirkwood, PA, Allen Boyd Of Oxford, PA, 10 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.
