Obituary

Walter V. O’Brien “Obie” age 78 of Carver, formerly of Canton passed away November 26th at Tufts New England Medical Center. Born and raised in Boston, he graduated from Roslindale High School and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired Captain from the Boston Fire Dept. Ladder 10, Engine 28 Jamaica Plain and a former member of the Savin Hill Yacht Club, Sharon Gun Club and Canton Knights of Columbus. Beloved husband of Nora V. (Cataloni) and the late Valerian M. “Val” (Gutke). Father of Eileen O’Brien-Meade of Stoughton, Teresa O’Brien of N. Easton, John O’Brien of E. Bridgewater, Thomas O’Brien of New Bedford & Michael O’Brien of Raynham. Brother of Daniel Joseph O’Brien of Hyde Park. Also survived by 10 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Wednesday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Thursday morning at 10:00. Interment Canton Corner Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to the 100 Club of Mass, Inc. 17 Gloucester St. Boston, MA 02115.
