Eddie began trucking and transportation at age 15 at Allen’s farm, Arlington with horses. He’d return to Millis each evening to drive the tired but still singing women back to Arlington. Eddie drove for the Cambridge Gas Co. where his manager told his mother that his abilities would be enhanced if he would return to and graduate from high school. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1922 and was valedictorian at Burdett College, Boston in 1924. From then on it was trucking and transportation along the east coast. For six years in the 1930s he set the federal transportation tariffs from his office in Portland, Maine. He spent most of his years as Traffic Manager for Alger Bros., then Adley Trucking in Medford. He was a life long member of the Knights of Columbus, council 109 Arlington. He played baseball and hockey as a young man and ice skated and golfed until recently. He enjoyed telling and writing trucking stories and M.C.ing for the Traffic Club of Boston.
