David J. Jones, age 80, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born on June 19, 1930 in Lafayette County, MS to Lemuel Baxter and Exor Mae Carothers Jones. David was a master carpenter and retired from the City of Memphis. He was a veteran and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Jones was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and he loved his family. David was a member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley, MS.
The visitation will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at Seven Oaks with Dr. Randy Bain and Bro. Doug Meadows officiating.
David is survived by his wife, Yvonne Jones of Water Valley, MS; three sons, Mark D. (Sherry) Jones of Faulkner, MS, Todd Russell (Paula Ann) Jones of Lakeland, TN and Jay Walter (Lisa Leann) Jones of Memphis, TN.; one brother, Baxter (Mary Lou) Jones of Water Valley, MS; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two sisters, Nolie Howell and Peggy Jones.
