Obituary

I. J. `Jack` Harper, 89, Clarksville, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at Montgomery Care and Rehab Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Matthew Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Friday and from 12 PM until the hour of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born November 25, 1920 in Dresden, TN son of the late Luther Harper and Minnie Hawks Harper. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Mr. Harper was retired from the US Army and Civil Service. He served during WWII. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife Virginia Harper; son, Errol Harper (Ruthie), New Jersey; two grandchildren, Keri and Erica Harper; two great-grandchildren, Destini and Winter Carmack; and one step-granddaughter, Christina Carmack (Michael). Military will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Roy and Ray Harper, Kenneth Webb, Don Teasley, Roger McCoy, and Larry Richards.
