Obituary

James V. “Pee Wee” Wilkerson, age 54, of 501 Pruitt Road, Danville, left his earthly home to take his heavenly flight on November 24, 2010 after a battle with cancer.

He entered this world in Danville, Virginia on June 11, 1956, the son of the late Roy J. Wilkerson and Emmaline Brummett Wilkerson. While on this earth, Pee Wee’s passion for driving tractor trailer trucks allowed him to work 30 years at the former Westover Contract Carriers, Inc. and for 5 years at Lava Enterprise, Inc.

Pee Wee and Sheila Collins were married on November 22, 1975 and were blessed with son James V. “PJ” Wilkerson, II and his wife Keebra of Danville; a daughter: Jamie R. Wilkerson of the residence and grandson Nathaniel Kelly of Danville. He was a brother to five sisters: Wanda Cain and her husband John, Jennifer Kroffe and her husband Richard, Teresa Tate and her husband John, all of Danville; June Martin and her husband Robert of Halifax, Va, Debroah Motley and her husband Whitt of Ringgold; three brothers: Jerry Wilkerson and his wife Louise, Owen Doss and his wife Patty, all of Danville, and Steven Doss and his wife Lee of Sutherlin, VA.

A celebration of life service officiated by Rev. Wayne Wallace will be held on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. and at other times they will be at the residence.
