Mrs. Helen C. O'Rourke, of Woburn passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness at the age of 85 on her birthday, November 22nd, at the Courtyard Nursing Home of Medford. She was the beloved wife of James A. O'Rourke and together they shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Melrose she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Ellen (Stanley) Meuse.
Helen was a Woburn resident for the majority of her life. Mostly a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother she enjoyed and cherished being with her family. Helen was a retired head teller for the former Tanners National Bank of Woburn where she worked for over fifteen years. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling with her family and friends with one of her more memorable trips traveling to Ireland. She also enjoyed spending many summer vacations with family at Hampton Beach and on Cape Cod. In her leisure time she enjoyed attending bingo with her friends.
Along with her beloved husband, Helen is survived by her children, Mary Ellen DiZio of Woburn, James O'Rourke of Bradford, and Sharon O'Rourke of Haverhill. She was the loving grandmother of Caley Lombard, Ryan O'Rourke, Matthew and Alex DiZio. She is also survived by six loving great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Dawn O'Rourke, sisters, Theresa Coy, Lillian Meehan and Martha Cassaneri, brothers, Joseph and Paul Meuse.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Saturday, November 27th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Friday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Helen's memory to the LaSalette Mission Center, 4650 So. Broadway, St. Louis, MO 03111-1398 c/o Fr.
