Mary (Tavares) Vieira, age 86 formerly of Somerset passed away November 21, 2010. She was the widow of Norbert C. Vieira and daughter of the late John Medeiros Tavares and Maria E. (Bertholdo) Tavares. Mary had worked for U.S. Records as a packer and previously, as a press operator in local sewing shops. She was a Charter Member of the AmVets Post #72 Auxiliary and she was a member of St. John of God Church.
She is survived by 3 children: Norbert “Butch” Vieira and wife Susan, Sandra (Thibault) Correia, all of Somerset and Kenneth Vieira and wife Lynda of Fall River; 3 sisters: Dorvalina “Dovie” Raposa and Cecilia Tavares, both of Somerset and Agnes Ferraro of Fall River; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River Saturday at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 9 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-8 P.M.
