Bertha B. (Winters) (Auger) Aziz, age 93, of Methuen, MA., died peacefully Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen.
Born in Methuen in 1917, Bertha was the daughter of John Joseph and Mary (Schneider) Winters. She was educated in the Methuen Schools. Bertha had worked as a waitress for several years at the Eastern Mass Bus Transfer Station in Lawrence. She had also worked at Service Wood Heel and later as a Hostess at Wirth's Restaurant. Family was very important to her especially the holidays. She never missed a family gathering. Bertha enjoyed dining out and frequent trips especially to the beaches. She loved her animals. In 1951, she married Roger Aziz of Lawrence and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together until his death in 2007. She was the mother of the late June (Auger) Nolin of North Andover and is survived by one son Raymond Auger and his wife Margaret of Lawrence, MA.
Bertha is also survived by her grandchildren: Eric Nolin, Mary Auger-Elkhoury, Marc Auger, Matthew Auger and his wife Lisa, and Michael Auger. She also leaves behind six Great-grandchildren: George and Christine Elkhoury, Kelsey White, and Matthew, Dante and Ryan Auger. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bertha was pre-deceased by her sisters: Emma Loveland, Martha Golden, Mary Dubowik, and Helen O'Connor.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph's Melkite Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Cemetery, also in Lawrence. Family and friends may call on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
