Esther A. “Nana” (Generale) Iannone, 82, of Whitman, passed away on November 18th, after a tragic automobile accident. She was the wife of the late Anthony Iannone.
She was born and brought up in Philadelphia, PA., daughter of the late Julio and Concetta (Sinardi) Generale. Esther was a graduate of the Little Flower Hill School in Philadelphia,PA.
She then married and moved to East Boston, moved to Whitman and has been a resident since 1974 .Esther was a member of the Holy Ghost Church.
In her early years she was a telephone operator for 40 years with AT&T and retired from the Brockton office.
Esther enjoyed playing board games, cards with her grandchildren and had a passion for cooking. She also loved all Boston sports, especially the Red Sox.; also being surrounded by her family, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Helen Iannone of Whitman, her brother Raymond Generale and his wife Rosemarie of PA., her grandchildren, Jaclyn, Kasey, Anthony, Paulette and Bridget;also many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Rose, Emily, Laura, Emma, James, Alfred and William.
Her services will be held on Saturday November 27th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Interment will follow in the Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop, MA. Visitation will be held on Friday November 26th from 4:00-8:00PM.
