Madeline L.”Maddie” (Smith) Forrand 90, of Whitman, died peacefully surrounded by her family Saturday November 20th in the Colony House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Abington.
Maddie was born in Abington, daughter of the late George and Mary E. (Kiely) Smith .
She was a resident of Whitman for more then 80 years a graduate of Whitman High Class of 1938.
After raising her children, Madeline worked as a technician at Brockton Hospital, retiring after 15 years of service. After suffering as stroke in 2002, Maddie made her home at Colony House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Abington.
“Maddie” was also an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, music and time with her family.
Maddie’s family is most grateful for the wonderful home and care provided by Colony House.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son, Natalie Powell of Middleboro, Steven Forrand of Florida, her sister Virginia Stearns of Hanson.
Madeline was a loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren: Tara Brown of Middleboro, MA, Gretchen Eggers of Pembroke, MA, Stephanie Burke of Abington, MA, Kara Owen of Plymouth, MA, Adam Morse of Pembroke, MA,Jacqueline Forrand of Duxbury:12 great-grand children and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday November 23rd at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery Whitman. Visitation omitted by request.
