New Bedford...Christine (Nemec) Allen, 95, of Westport died Sunday, December 14, 2003 at the Blaire House after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late David B. Allen.
Born in Johnston, Rhode Island the daughter of the late Wenzel S. and Elizabeth M. (Carson) Nemec she had been a resident of Westport since 1989. She was formerly employed by the Lakeville State Hospital as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1968. Prior to that she had been employed at the hospital on Martha's Vineyard and years later worked for the Town of Dartmouth Dental Clinic and the Sassaquin Hospital in New Bedford.
She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing on May 21, 1930 as a Registered Nurse. Mrs. Allen was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Survivors include 2 sons: Mark W. Allen and Douglas B. Allen both of Westport; 3 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.
