Obituary


Jane (Tyrrel) Keur, 89, of Windham Falls, Drozdyk Drive, Groton, died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

Jane was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Guilford, to Randolph E. and Grace (Suydam) Tyrrel. She grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Guilford.

She married Willem E. Keur on Dec. 19, 1944, in Salisbury. They lived at Salisbury School for 30 years and retired in Lakeville, Conn. Wim died in 1993.

Jane attended schools in Brooklyn, graduating from Packer Collegiate Institute. She worked as a teacher at Town Hill School in Lakeville and enjoyed her many years as a faculty wife at Salisbury School. She had many wonderful memories of the "Salisbury boys." She enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing, and reading. In her last few years, she has been knitting baby hats and donating them through RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program).

Jane embraced life and always had fun, bringing a positive attitude and laughter to almost every situation. She enjoyed people and treasured her many friends. Jane will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Link Keur and wife, Beverly, of Augusta, N.J., and her daughter, Judy Toth and husband, Barry, of Gales Ferry. She leaves seven grandchildren of whom she was very proud and who dearly loved their "Omoe", Adrienne (Keur) McBrien, Tyler Keur, Amy (Toth) Vaughan, Bryan Toth, Alison (Toth) Powers, Ryan Keur, and Randall Keur. She also leaves two great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald Tyrrel; as well as many beloved nephews and a niece.

Donations may be made to Salisbury School Development Office, Salisbury CT 06068 and designated for a memorial fund in memory of Jane and Wim Keur.
