Rita D. Adams, 90, of North Andover, passed away on Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 at the Prescott House in North Andover.
Rita was born in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Thomas F. and Alice (Eagan) Adams and was raised and educated in Allston. She attended Emmanuel College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in History and went on to receive her Master’s in Library Science from Simmons College. Rita worked for many years as a librarian for Somerville High School until her retirement.
Throughout her life and following her retirement, Rita was a dedicated and devoted volunteer within many Catholic organizations and groups through the Boston area.
Rita is predeceased by her brothers, Edward T. Adams and Fr. Robert B. Adams and a sister-in-law, BelleRita Adams. She leaves nieces and nephews, Robert B. Adams and his wife Kelley of NJ, Thomas F. Adams and his wife Andrea of NJ, Edward Eagan Adams and his wife Robin of MT and Maureen Finneran of Andover and her late husband Thomas, 11 great-nieces and nephews and 22 great-great nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to gather from 9 to 9:30 am on Monday November 22 at the Charles Dewhirst Andover Funeral Home, 33 Pearson Street, Andover. A Funeral Mass in her honor will follow at 10 am at St. Augustine’s Church, Andover. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Roxbury, MA.
