Harry S. Mulno, Jr., 72…of Tewksbury, retired Lowell Cemetery Superintendent…

TEWKSBURY: Harry S. Mulno, Jr., age 72, retired superintendent of the Lowell Cemetery and longtime Tewksbury resident died Sunday, December 14, 2003 at the Boston Medical Center.

He was the husband of 49 years to Cynthia E. (Olson) Mulno.

Born in Lowell on January 8, 1931, he was the son of the late Harry S. and Jessie E. (Worthen) Mulno. Mr. Mulno attended Lowell schools.

He was the 4th generation in his family to serve as superintendent of the historic Lowell Cemetery.

Mr. Mulno’s cemetery career began as a young man assisting his forefathers with the day to day care of the gardens, grounds and burial sites of the Greater Lowell areas early settlers.

In 1953, he was appointed superintendent of the cemetery and held that position for 42 years.

In 1995, after 50 years of service, Mr. Mulno retired from the cemetery’s superintendent position. During the last several years, he served on the Board of Trustees of the Lowell Cemetery.

He was a member and past president of the Tewksbury Rotary Club.

Mr. Mulno enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and playing golf.

In addition to his wife, he leaves 1 daughter; Lee Ann Spiess and her husband Richard of Norfolk; 4 sons; Harry S. Mulno III and his wife Cathy (Arnold) of Tewksbury, Philip M. Mulno of Honolulu, HI, Paul A. Mulno and his wife Debbie Epps of Lowell and Glenn A. Mulno and Debbie (McGarvey) of Needham; 5 grandchildren; Cynthia L. Spiess, David A., Alyssa J., Daniel W. and Jason R. Mulno.

Calling hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral service Friday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
