ASHE, John P. Of Dedham, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2010 at the age of 85 surrounded by his loving family. Until his final moments he maintained his wit and sense of humor. He is survived by his cherished wife of 57 years Jean (Heffernan), children Kathy Price and her husband Kim of Chester, CT, John and his wife Kathy of Millis, Brian and his wife Jill Zolot of Marblehead and David and his wife Lynda of Dedham. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is a graduate of Dorchester High School and Northeastern University. WWII veteran of the US Navy, he served in the South Pacific for 3 years (1942-45) including the invasions of the Philippines and Okinawa. He was recalled for the Korean Conflict and served at US Naval headquarters in New York City. A successful publishing executive, he was employed by Honeywell, Warren, Gorham & Lamont and Thomson & Thomson. In addition to spending time with his family he was an avid reader, lover of music, woodworker, skier and world traveler of 6 continents with his wife. He especially enjoyed walking the beach in Cohasset, his home at Okemo Mountain Vermont as well as many trips to his beloved Ireland.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 456 High St. DEDHAM Friday at 10AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 11AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8PM. Interment Private.
