Carolyn Mildred Arrington Wood, 75, of Tifton passed away, peacefully surrounded by her family, on Monday, November 15, 2010, and is now reunited with her husband, family and God in heaven above. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Eastside Baptist Church. Rev. Tommy McDonald will officiate with interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Her nephews, Bubby Raney, Mike Raney, Mark Raney and Daryl Nedeisky, along with Jimmy Castleberry and Ty Sumner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday school class at Eastside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Wood was born on May 16, 1935 in Tifton and was the daughter of Marvin Arrington and Kate Pritchard Arrington, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Wood, who died on October 2, 2010. She was raised in Tifton, where she met her husband, Richard, who was the love of her life. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, which she considered her second home. She loved her Sunday school class and her lessons and all the people there. She was a homemaker and retired from Versa Products, formally Leslie Locke.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her daughter, Teresa W. Sumner of Lenox and three grandchildren, Lee and Joy Sumner of Homerville and Liz Sumner of Lenox. She also leaves behind her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Nell and George Raney of Ocala, Florida; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews. She has two sisters-in-law, Betty Tillman of Hernando, Florida and Daphene Lovett of Melbourne, Florida.
Mrs. Wood’s family would like to thank Ann McGehee and Southern Care Hospice for making her final days peaceful.
