STERLING

Richard H. Tucker, VI, 81, of Sterling died Sunday, November 14 in St. Vincent Hospital.
His wife of 45 years, Nancy A. (Boyd) Tucker died in 1997. He leaves five children, Christine McCartney and her husband John of Mashpee, MaryBeth Rochon and her husband Luc of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Laura Jonaitis and her husband Gary of Holden, Richard Tucker, VII and his wife Patricia of W. Barnstable and Jennifer Etro and her husband Mark of Eliot, ME; twelve grandchildren; a niece and a nephew. A sister, Jane Rushing predeceased him. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Richard H. Tucker, V and Mary H.(Hadley) Gibbs and his step-father, George P. Gibbs and graduated from Leominster High School, where he was an outstanding football player and Worcester County All-Star. He was an Army Airborne Veteran of the Korean War serving in the 188th Airborne Infantry Regiment.
Richard had a lifelong career in sales, retiring early to take care of his ailing wife. He was a longtime resident of Sterling and member of the First Church in Sterling. He was an avid reader and passionate about the game of golf. Richard enjoyed making golf clubs for his friends and family and was a member of Wachusett Country Club. He was a former member of the Clinton Masons.
Richard will be well remembered for his great sense of humor; giving all who surrounded him a good laugh with his unforgetable stories & jokes. He leaves a loving legacy within his children, grandchildren and many friends, who will miss him dearly.
The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 27 at 11 a.m. in the First Church in Sterling, 6 Meeting House Hill Rd. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Friday, November 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston.
