Aida M. Knope, 78, of Derry, NH, died Monday, December 15, 2003 in the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH. She was born in Methuen, MA on February 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Alfred M. and Mary (Twist) Scholz and was a resident Derry for most of her life. She was a 1942 graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry where she was the class Salutatorian. Mrs. Knope had been employed for the First National Bank, then the Derry Cooperative Bank which became the Derry Bank and Trust. She retired from the Numerica Savings Bank in Manchester, NH in 1992. She was a member of Y-INVEST. She was also active in the Calvary Bible Church in Derry. She loved reading, politics, financial interests, sewing and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen J. Knope of Portsmouth, NH, three sons, Wayne F. Knope Jr. and his wife Dori of S. Hamilton, MA, Kenton W. Knope and his wife Arlene of Fremont, NH, Kacy B. Knope and his wife Lynn of Florida, several grandchildren, three sisters, Eleanor Burris, Audrey Eddens, Barbara Buescher, all of Missouri, one brother, Alan Scholz, of Missouri, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Karl Knope in 1980 and her brother Robert Scholz in October 2003.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18th at 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. The burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 - 8 pm.
