Gladys Wright Meadows Taylor, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, of 122 Powell Avenue,
died Friday, November 12, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Born in Franklin County, Va. on July 21, 1923,
she was the daughter of the late Waddie James Wright and Eliza Jane Mullins Wright. She was first married to
Robert J. Meadows, who predeceased her, and later married John C. Taylor, who also predeceased her. She had lived
most of her life in the Danville area where she was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church. She had
worked in 4B weave room and retired from Dan River, Inc. after 47 years of service.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by one son, Robert J. "Bob" Meadows, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca, of Danville, and two daughters,
Sandra Meadows Ferrell and her husband, Reggie, of Danville, and Melissa (Lisa) Taylor Echevarria and her husband,
Alonso, of Summerfield, NC. Other survivors include a beloved brother, Oscar Wright of Ridgeway, Va., and a devoted
sister, Bernice Phillips, of Danville; Also, six grandchildren, Wayne, Michelle, Robbie, Justin, Jordan, and Nicole, and
three great-grandchildren, Karly, Jonah and Aiden. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was predeceased by
brothers, Edgar Wright, Elmer Wright, Walter Wright, and Raymond Wright, and sisters, Christine Janney, Melva Smith,
and Lula Odell.
Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be held Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Third Avenue Congregational
Christian Church with the Rev. Freddie Vicks, the Rev. Myron Bruce, and the Rev. Karen Kurtz officiating. Interment will
follow in Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday,
November 14, 2010. At other times, they will be at the residence of Sandra Ferrell, at 167 Powell Avenue, Danville.
