Ruth (Rogers) MacFarland 82, of Needham and Duxbury died on Friday December 12, 2003 in Scituate. Born in Boston Ruth was a lifelong resident of Needham. A graduate of Needham High School class of 1939. For many years Ruth was a secretary at the High Rock School in Needham. She later went to work for the Newton Savings Bank as a bank teller. Ruth went back to work for the Town of Needham in the Welfare Department. The Commonwealth took over the Welfare Department with Ruth working for the Department of Revenue as a Child Support Enforcement Officer. She continued to work for the State of Mass until her retirement. Ruth was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and was also a member of the Needham Historical Society. Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. MacFarland. Loving mother of Phyllis Kennedy of South Hadley, Chris D. MacFarland of Temple Terrace FL and Douglas R. MacFarland of Marshfield. Sister of Phyllis Johnson of Sudbury. Grandmother of James Kennedy, Amy and Robert MacFarland and Jamison MacFarland. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren. Funeral Services at the First Baptist Church 858 Great Plain Ave . Needham on Friday December 19th at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave. Needham from 4-7 PM. Interment services at the Highland Cemetery in Dover.
