GLOUCESTER: Hazel J. (MacNeill) Haselgard, 78, of Wheelers Point died peacefully at her home early Monday morning November 8, 2010. She was the wife of the late Leland Haselgard. She was able to remain in her home due to the love and devotion of her caretakers, Michael and Linda (Burgess) Lasley.
Born in Gloucester on April 18, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Genesta (Hodgkins) MacNeill. She had attended Gloucester public schools.
Mrs. Haselgard was employed in the sales department of the Empire Clothing Store in Salem, Lord & Taylor in Danvers, and the Christmas Dove in Rockport.
Her younger years were spent boating and swimming in the Mill River and ice skating on Mill Pond.
In addition to Michael and Linda and their son, Joshua Medeiros, she is also survived by her aunt, Barbara Lasley; cousins, Barry Lasley and Christine and her husband, Anthony Favazza and their son, Tyler Hammond all of Clearwater, Florida.
Her life was enriched with the love and friendship of Helen Burgess who, along with her family, included Hazel in all their family gatherings and frequent visits.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours.
