Obituary

HAVERHILL: Arline O’Brien, 71, died Monday, November 8, 2010 in the Sutton Hill Nursing Home in North Andover.
Born in Bradford on March 5, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary E. (Herring) O’Brien. She attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of St. James High School.
Arline was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, whom she adored more than anything. She cherished her family and friends very much. Arline loved to laugh, dance and spend time at the beach. She also enjoyed baking and arts and crafts.
She is survived by her three children, Julie A. Ciaraldi and her husband Peter of Salem, NH, Joanne Lavallee of North Andover and Glenn Lavallee and his wife Janet also of Salem, NH, six grandchildren, Jordan, Cory, Taylor, Kelly, Joe and Chrissy, one sister, Joanne Archambault of Haverhill, one brother, Bill O’Brien and his wife Linda of Bradford, brother-in-law, Kevin Buckley of Bradford and many nieces, nephews and cousins that she enjoyed being with. She was also predeceased by her sister, Patty Buckley. Arline was very proud of her Irish Hertitage. This blessing we share in her loving memory: “My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much: Good times, good friends, a loved-one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief – Don’t shorten yours with undue grief. Be not burdened with tears of sorrow, Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.”
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in the St. James Church, 161 Winter St., Haverhill at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Donations in memory of Arline may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Interment will be held in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
