Mrs. Voncile Tanner, age 70, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Tanner was the daughter of the late Richard V. and Beulah Stewart Hester born on May 30, 1940 in Broxton, GA. She was an owner/operator of a restaurant in Douglas and Valdosta for 28 years and a member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church. She was loved by her family and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2010 in the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in the Douglas City Cemetery. Survivors include: husband: Dwight Wayne Tanner, Douglas, GA; son: Roger Wayne (Peggy) Tanner, Forsyth, GA; daughter: Angela Dianne (Ronald) Summerlin; grandsons: Steven Wayne Tanner and Christopher Wayne Tanner; great granddaughter: Lilly Ann Elaine Tanner; sisters: Virginia Cooper, Broxton, GA, Genelda Thornton, Lilburn, GA; brothers: Jessie Hester, Stockbridge, GA, Billy Wayne Hester, San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
