Martinez, GA - Rev. Dr. Ellis Wally Arceneaux, “Pop”, 74, was born in Des Allemands, LA and was promoted to glory on November 7, 2010.
Visitation will be at 5:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM at The Sanctuary Church on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Burial will be at Christ Sanctified Holy Church in Perry, GA on Wednesday, November 10, at 2:00PM.
The son of the late Claybert and Clara Arceneaux, he was the beloved husband of Flora Jane Dufrene Arceneaux for the past 54 years. He is survived by his wife and three children, Robin (Jimmy) Tripp, Debbie (Kenneth) Walker, and Betsy (Mike) Clair, all of Augusta, GA; five brothers and sisters, Fannie (Robert) Trimnal, Bishopville, SC, Allen (Cecile) Arceneaux, Martinez, GA, Paul (Pat) Arceneaux, Raleigh, NC, Rachel (Walter) Cross, and Sharon Miller, both of Augusta, GA; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and father-in-law, Raymond Dufrene.
Pop was a member of The Sanctuary church in Evans, GA and an active member of the choir. At the age of 65, he completed his education and obtained three doctoral degrees (theology, divinity, and philosophy) from Southern Bible Institute in Augusta, GA. Throughout his life, he worked as a realtor, carpenter, tile setter, minister, and the greatest babysitter for his grandchildren. Pop will best be remembered for his comforting hugs, encouraging words, heartwarming smile, and unconditional love.
