Arvel Richard Hunter, 84, Clarksville, died Monday, November 8, 2010, at Montgomery Care and Rehab Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at New Providence United Methodist Church with Rev. BJ Brack officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service Thursday at the church. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born April 21, 1926 in Algood, TN son of the late James Luther Hunter and Barbara West Hunter. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, Billy Ray, and James Hunter; and two sisters, Ardith Turner and Pauline Hunter. Mr. Hunter was a member of New Providence United Methodist Church for the past 44 years where he served as the treasurer of the Sunday School. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #761 and the Montgomery County Laity Club. He was a retired truck driver with Texaco and Ladd Oil Company. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Myrtle Marshall Hunter; daughter, Faye (Tom)Forsythe, Clarksville; two sisters, Roxie Dishman, Clarksville; and Johnnie Mildred Anderson, Duluth, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Brian Stewart and Glenn (Ali) Stewart; and one great-grandchild, Blake Stewart. Pallbearers will be Brian Stewart, Glenn Stewart, Joe Pitts, Roger Atkins, Charles Jackson and Tommy Jackson.
