Obituary

WEST FALMOUTH – Ivo S. Areias, 72, died at his West Falmouth home on Nov. 5, 2010.
Born in Terceira, Portugal, he was the son of the late Matthew and Lucille (Guimaraes) Areias.
Educated in Portugal, he moved to the U.S. at the age of 17.
Mr. Areias worked as a machine operator for Harodite, Inc. in Taunton before retiring many years ago.
A resident of W. Falmouth for the past twenty-six years, and a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in E. Falmouth, Mr. Arias was a member of the Portuguese American Society of Falmouth, and the East Taunton Holy Ghost Society.
His favorite hobby was making wine, which he loved sharing with his family and friends.
He was an animal lover, and will be missed by his pet cats, Fluffy, Maisy, Molly and Tigger.
He leaves his wife of fifty years, Mary E. (Alves) Areias; his daughters, Suzanne M. Areias of W. Falmouth and Sharon A. Trahan of N. Attleboro; his mother-in-law, Frances L. Alves of Falmouth; two brothers, John Areias of E. Taunton and Louis Areias of Taunton; two sisters, Mary Silva of S. Daytona, FL and Lucille Cozzone of Taunton;
two grandsons, Seth and Simon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Joseph and Matthew Areias.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Tuesday, Nov. 9th at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church, East Taunton at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Nov. 8th from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
