Jane C. Welch, 96, of Mattapoisett died November 5, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Donald T. Welch and the daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie (Seaver) Carroll.
She was born and raised in Bridgewater, lived in Middleboro, Plymouth and Newton before moving to Mattapoisett in 1972. She was a graduate of Bridgewater High School in 1931 and a graduate of Bridgewater State Teachers College in 1935. She was employed for many years as an elementary school teacher and finished her career as a reading specialist in Newton.
Mrs. Welch was a member of the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.
Mrs. Welch was a member of the Women's Guild, past president of Mattapoisett Senior Citizens. During World War II, she worked in Shipments Department at Port Chicago, San Francisco where they loaded victory ships. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband.
Survivors include 2 sons, Kenneth Bradford Welch of Mattapoisett and David Thomas Welch of Wayland; a sister, Carolyn Titcomb of Mattapoisett and several nieces and nephews.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 11 AM in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church.
