Joan Walker, 77, of Irwin County died Thursday, November 4, 2010, at Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 4 P.M., Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Irwinville United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Walker was born December 13, 1932 in Tift County to the late Robert L. and Bernice Steverson Dickson. She was a 1949 graduate of Irwinville High School. Mrs. Walker was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She was a member of Irwinville United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Charlie & Kristie Walker of Marietta and Bobby & Emily Walker of Acworth; daughters and sons-in-law: Donna & Charlie Young of Fitzgerald and Becky Floyd of Bushnell, FL; grandchildren: Holly (Mike) Bost, Kyle Young, Rett Walker, Karoline Walker, and Kaitlyn Van Buren; great-grandchildren: Allen Thompson, Alex Thompson, Ashlyn Bost, Crystal Bost, Margot Walker, and Drake Young as well as one sister and brother-in-law: Sandra & Marion Newell of Abbeville. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Wyatt Walker; son: Johnny Walker; two granddaughters: Lisha Young and Krystal Walker; and one brother: Wayne Dickson.
