Obituary

Basilios N. Tsantinis, 85 of Worcester died peacefully on November 2nd surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves behind his wife of 15 years, Helen K. Sumpter Tsantinis, two daughters, Eugenia Tsantinis, and Barbara Tsantinis wife of Michael T. Murphy, and one granddaughter Elena M. Cordova. He also leaves five sisters, including Efstathia Koulisis Tsantinis of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Helen P. (Kapelos) Tsantinis in 1980 and their son Nicholas in 1957. He was born in Lias, Epiros, Greece, the son of Nicholas and Eugenia (Sorongas) Tsantinis. He was a Greek Army veteran and emigrated to the United States in 1951. He owned Bill’s Texaco on Chandler St. for many years and was later employed by the David Clark Company. He loved to travel, take long walks, garden, bird watch, and spend time with his family. He was a member of St. Spyridon’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral for over 50 years, the Liaton Society of Worcester, and the Order of AHEPA. He truly lived the American Dream and leaves behind a grateful family.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, Nov. 4 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. The funeral service will be on Friday, Nov. 5 at 11:00 AM at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer.
