Americo Craveiro Sr., age 76 of Somerset, passed away November 2, 2010. He was the beloved husband of Maria Joanna (Silva) Craveiro and son of the late Joao B. and Maria Rosaria (Amaro) Craveiro. Born in Ribeira Cha he was raised in Aqua de Pau, Sao Miguel, Azores. Americo was a retired construction foreman for Simeone Corp, a member of the International Laborers Union Local 610 & a parishioner of St. John of God Church. Americo was a devoted family man who loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was an avid gardener, he enjoyed fishing and he had a special place in his heart for all animals.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his 2 children: Donna Marie (Craveiro) Medeiros and her husband Louis of Somerset and Americo Craveiro Jr. and his wife Jori of Freetown; 2 siblings: Joao Craveiro and Maria Cecilia Craveiro Almeida, both of Fall River; 4 grandchildren: Ryan & Kyle Medeiros and Kelsey & Cody Craveiro and several nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Maria Juventina Craveiro Loureiro.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River Saturday at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset at 9 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Friday 4-8 P.M.
