Caroline Stella (Russell) Swan, age 68, of Midway Oval, Groton, passed away Saturday due to complications of COPD. She joined her beloved angels, grandson baby Matthew T. Corey and daughter Brenda Turre.
She is survived by her three children; her daughter and best friend Heidi (Moffitt) Willcox and her husband Todd Willcox, Terry Christian, and Matthew Moffitt. She is also survived by her very close granddaughter, Jamie Wilson and her fiance and five children, Issiah, Noah, Grace, Dawson, and Camren.
She is also survived by her other grandchildren, Michael Bugbee, Daniel Bugbee, his wife and their three children, Amy Wilson, Trista Wetherby and her four children, Theodore Wetherby, his wife and their three children, our proud soldier, Tommy Wetherby, his wife and his three children, Tracey Wetherby, Samantha and Hannah Moffitt.
She was not only a special grandmother but a second mother to Christopher Corey, Jr. (grandma's boy) and her little princess, Carolann Moffitt, Hailey Willcox (grandma's little dancer) and Little Todd Willcox (Big Todd's twin) and loved so much.
Caroline Stella (Russell) Swan was a fighter, a strong-willed woman, and a survivor. No matter what life threw at her she was still a shining star. She was very blunt and to the point. She enjoyed life even though she was fighting many different medical issues. She loved to go shopping for hours even if she came out of the the store with nothing. She sewed beautiful outfits for her grandchildren and decorated her beautiful house with little money. She enjoyed cooking and making meal time a special time. She was very creative and knew how to light up a room.
We all love you very much and always will. You will never be forgotten.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, Ledyard on Thursday at 2pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
