Jill McLean Taylor of Wellesley Hills, MA, died at the age of sixty-six from leukemia on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Jill was born in Wellington, New Zealand on January 13, 1944, the elder daughter of the late Sir Terry and Lady McLean. Jill is survived by her husband, Harry Taylor, formerly of Belfast, Northern Ireland, her sons, Alex, Tom, and Willie, and her brothers Jock McLean and David McLean, and her younger sister Sally Ann McLean, all of Auckland, New Zealand.
Jill was a professor at Simmons College for twenty years and a passionate advocate for women’s rights and social justice.
A celebration of Jill’s life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Church, Harvard University, Cambridge. A scholarship, “He Also Had Five Daughters: The Jill McLean Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund,” was created in her honor.
