Maine----Anne D’Auray Crawford Tilton, formerly of Laconia, NH, passed on to heaven on October 18, after a long illness, with her son, Aaron, at her side.
Anne was born on July 2, 1928 and raised in Tilton, NH, one of nine children of John W. Crawford and Anne Rita Sweeney Crawford. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1952 and became an Occupational Therapist in 1953. She married Richard Burton Tilton of Pittsfield, NH on December 8, 1960. For many years, she served as the Director of Occupational Therapy at Laconia State School.
She was a member of the local Altrusa Club, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, and was involved in many local, regional, and state-wide activities. In 2008, she moved to Maine to be near her son and his family.
Anne is survived by her son, Aaron, and his wife, Dianne, of Harrington, Maine; her grandson, Barrett Tilton, of Harrington, Maine and granddaughter, Blake Tilton, of St. Petersburg, Florida. She is also survived by brothers, Jack, Jr. and Gerard; sisters, Jacqueline, Jane and Rita, and their families, as well as many beloved members of her extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Burton Tilton, who died in 1966, by her brother, Charles, and by her sisters, Marguerita and Mary.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010 from 6:00-8:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:00am at St. Andre Bessette Parish, St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H.
Private family burial will be in the family lot in Floral Park Cemetery, Pittsfield, N.H.
