Helen Nevelyne Haskins Joiner, 84, Clarksville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Montgomery Care and Rehab. The funeral will be held at 10 AM Friday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Flat Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home and from 9 AM until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Joiner was born March 17, 1926, and grew up in Christian County, KY. After living in Kentucky until about 10 years ago, she moved to Clarksville, TN to be near her daughter. While there she was a resident at Walking Horse Meadows, Asera Care Hospice, and Montgomery Care and Rehab Center. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, where she was a custodian for several years, and she also attended Hilldale Baptist Church in Clarksville. She was a devoted mother that loved her family and church. She was thankful for God's many gifts and her smile could light up the room. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, worked in the Church Nursery, participated in a weekly quilting group, and attended many Senior Outings. She loved to can, sew, quilt, crochet, and attend to her many rose bushes. She loved her flowers and shared their beauty with others. She was a faithful gardener, raising vegetables and fruit trees which she shared with friends and neighbors. Ms. Joiner was the daughter and eldest child of the late Ullus "Jack" Haskins and the late Hallie Hayes Haskins Calvin. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Henry Garner Joiner, Sr.; also a son, Henry Garner Joiner, Jr.; a sister, Celya Haskins Smith; two brothers, James "Red" Haskins and Danny Harold Haskins. Ms. Joiner is survived by two daughters, Joan Carol Joiner Lamb of Clarksville, TN and Rachel Helen Joiner (Ron) Crowden of Augusta, Georgia; two sisters, Christine Eisenhauer of Hopkinsville, KY and Ann Vaughn of Clarksville, TN; and one brother, Cletus Haskins. She had 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, along with many other nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to all the Employees and Staff at the Walking Horse Meadows Assisted Living, Aseracare Hospice, and the Montgomery Care and Rehab Center for the care and compassion given to her.
