
WEBSTER – Anthony G. Placzek, 69, of Webster, died Friday, October 29, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves a sister, Barbara A. Bembenek and her husband Edward J. Bembenek; a niece, Debra A. Thomas and her husband Christopher Thomas; a nephew Chad L. Coporale all of Webster; several aunts; several cousins including, Agnes and Ron Coporale of Webster; his two devoted PCA’s, Carolyn Rocheleau and Nadine Matthews.
He was born in Webster, the son of Gustave G. and Josephine L. (Bastolla) Placzek. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1959 and received his Associates Degree from Springfield Technical College.
Mr. Placzek was a lens grinder at American Optical Company in Southbridge for 17 years retiring in 1978.
He was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #173 for 41 years, until 2000. He built his own computer in 1970 when computers were first being sold. He was a Ham radio operator his call signal was K1 HLE. He was an avid coin collector and a photographer.
The funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, November 2, at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are private.
