David O’Neal Hooker, 77, of 495 Pleasant Gap Drive, Dry Fork, and formerly of 176 Laramie Circle, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born in Caswell County on April 14, 1933, he was the son of the late David H. Hooker and Dora Spangler Hooker.
David has lived most of his life in Danville where he had worked as a pipefitter. He was a 1951 graduate of Cobb High School. He served
As a Military Police in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Dan River Post 1097. He had
Been in declining health for the past two weeks.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Keith Hooker and his wife, Mona, of Dry Fork, Dwayne O’Neal Hooker of Pelham; two daughters,
Diane H. McCubbins and her husband, Barry and Geneva Mae Hooker of Danville. Also, four sisters, Laura Robertson, Elsie Hoskins,
Shirley Bray and Ileen Underwood, all of Danville; three grandchildren, Zayne Hooker, Heather McCubbins and Conner McCubbins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, William Hooker, James Hooker, and Otis Hooker, and one sister,
Lottie Meade.
Funeral services for Mr. Hooker will be held Monday, November 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Stateline Baptist Church with the
Rev. Wayne Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the Hooker family cemetery on Holland Road, with military honors given
By the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 31, 2010 from
7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times, will be at the residence of Brian and Mona Hooker, at
495 Pleasant Gap Drive, Dry Fork, Va.
