Obituary

SPENCER: Richard B. Hetfield 60 of Spencer, passed away peacefully at the West Roxbury V.A. Hospital on Saturday, October 23.

He leaves his sister, Sally S. Hetfield with whom he lived, several much loved first cousins, in Ma. and Pa., and a niece and nephew in S.C. He was predeceased by his beloved sister, C. Jean Catoe of West Columbia, SC. in 2002.

Dick loved his 1985 Cadillac Seville and the 1961 Honda Dream motorcycle he restored and regularly rode. He enjoyed assembling birdhouses, light houses and an 8’ rowboat in his back yard. He always looked forward to family outings and being with his friends. He had a quick, dry wit and a love of the simple things. He was quietly proud to have served two tours of duty in Vietnam during the late 60’s with the U.S. Army.

He will be lovingly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service for Dick will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 144 No.Main St., No.Brookfield. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Central Mass. Chapter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester, 01605.
