Obituary

Cecilia A. Kelley, 95, passed away at the Winchester Nursing Center on October 30th, 2010. She was born in Charlestown on November 23rd, 1914 to her parents William J. and Mary (McLaughlin) Hughes. Cecilia was raised and educated in Somerville and has been a resident of Medford for the past 65 years. For many years she worked as a cashier at the local skating rinks and pools operated by the Metropolitan District Commission. She has been a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden where she developed a deep respect and devotion towards the Blessed Mother. Cecilia celebrated her Irish Heritage, was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed discussions on local and national politics. She is survived by her children, Cecilia Driscoll of Stoneham, Francis H. Kelley Jr. and his wife Judith of Medford, Bernadette Leccesse and her husband George of Medford, Patricia Downey and her husband David of Medford, Jane Kelley of Arlington and Maureen Bennett and her husband Charles of Arlington. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband Francis H. Kelley; by her son-in-law Leonard Driscoll; by her sisters Kathleen Burke and Mary Quinlan; and by her brother William Hughes. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday November 2nd at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the Mass on Tuesday only. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
