Mabel Powell Wood, 83, of Oviedo, Florida died Friday, October 29, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Joseph Crumley will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Wood was born on March 10, 1927 in Zephyrhills, Florida and was the daughter of James Powell and Lena Taylor Powell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Welcome Doye “W.D.” Wood, Sr., who died in 1982; and one brother. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Wood is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, W. D. “Bo” and Paula Wood, Jr. and Gary Wood, all of Oviedo, Florida; two sisters, Juanita Sumner of Omega and Helen Olivia of Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
