
Arthur Louis Parker of Haverhill, formerly of Andover and Natick and beloved husband of the late Eleanor Parker, died at the Lawrence General Hospital on Friday morning, October 29, 2010. He was 87 years old.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut, on November 1, 1922, he was the beloved son of the late Abraham and Alfreda (Durr) Parker.
Mr. Parker was a WWII Army veteran, entering at Boston, Massachusetts, on December 4, 1942 and receiving his honorable discharge from Ft. Devens on May 2, 1946. While serving in the military, Mr. Parker worked as a Mechanic and was a Marksman. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon for his outstanding service. In civilian life Arthur was employed by Haverhill Paper Board as a Production Manager, for many years. In his spare time, Arthur enjoyed fishing and playing golf. He also was an avid Boston sports fan. Above all, Mr. Parker was a very devoted family man, always caring for his wife, daughter and grandchildren.
He will be very sorely missed by his loving daughter and her fiance; Janice M. Pojasek of Haverhill and Richard Wonson of Chelmsford, two grandsons; Kevin and his wife Amanda Pojasek of Cambridge and Andrew and his wife Gwen Pojasek of Waltham, one great-granddaughter; Charlotte Pojasek, two siblings; Doris Parker of Milford and Ernest Parker of Framingham and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, Monday, November 1, 2010, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Sunday evening, from 6 to 8 PM. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
