Obituary

Jesse Glyn Weeks, age 84, died on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. Glyn was born on June 15, 1926 in Tillatoba, MS to the late Jesse Lee and Myrtle Allison Weeks. He was a graduate of Water Valley High School and was an outstanding athlete for the football, basketball and track teams, where he was affectionately known as "Puppy Dog". From 1944 through 1946 Glyn served as a First Class Seaman in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Ticonderoga in the Pacific Arena during WWII. Glyn was honorably discharged in 1946 and married Callie Mae Mills. They were married for 64 years. Glyn was an avid reader, a devout Ole Miss fan, and a dedicated Sunday School teacher. He was a staunch supporter of the Biblical Research Society. He also loved fishing and gardening. After retiring as a power dispatcher for the Tennessee Valley Authority, he and Kay returned home to Water Valley. Glyn was a member of First Baptist Church.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Dr. Randy Bain officiating.

Glyn is survived by his wife, Callie Mae Mills Weeks “Kay” of Water Valley, MS; two sons, Dr. Barry L. (Charmie) Weeks of Water Valley, MS and Timothy G. Weeks of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Angela Weeks of Carbondale, CO and Matt Weeks of Nashville, TN.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Jean Amason.

Memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Water Valley, MS.
