WESTPORT — Jack A. Wildanger, of Westport, died at home on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, after an extended illness. He was the husband of the late Glenda (Scott) Wildanger to whom he was married for forty years; and is survived by his companion of 14 years, Doloris Santos of Dartmouth.
Born in San Jose, California, he was the son of the late Warner and Ralpha (O'Brien) Wildanger and lived in Canton before moving to Westport. For over fifty years he was a salesman in wholesale millwork to retail lumber yards retiring earlier this year. Jack served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Naval Aviator flying the Grumman Avenger TBM from the deck of the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier. He achieved the rank of Ensign and was honorably discharged in 1944.
He is survived by his son, James Weston and his wife, Siriba of Plymouth, N.H.; his daughters, Lynda Loranger and her husband, Lionel of Little Compton, R.I. and Kathleen Wildanger and her companion, Raymond Beauchaine of Somerset, Ma.; his brother, Richard Wildanger of Redwood City, California; four grandchildren, Peter and Marc Lennon, Erik and Jamie Wildanger; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Toni McLafferty.
Visitation will take place on Friday, October 29th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma., with a prayer service at 11:45 a.m. Burial is private.
