Paul E. O’Donnell, Sr.,73, of Whitman, died Tuesday October 26th in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 49 Years to Rosemary (Burge) O’Donnell.
He was born and brought up in Boston, son of the late Thomas and Viola (Donovan) O’Donnell.
Paul was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and attended Northeastern University. He was a teacher at South Shore Vocational-Technical High School for 30 years.
He has been a resident of Whitman for the past 46 years and served on the Board of Appeals.
Paul enjoyed watching his grandchildren‘s sporting events, loved gardening and his annual trip to Foxwoods with his fellow teachers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Paul E. O’Donnell, Jr., and his wife Cindy of Kingston, his daughter, Karen Driscoll and her husband Charles of Bridgewater. His two sisters Viola Kelleher of Somerset and Dorothy Sedlacek of New York: also his grandchildren, Katelyn, Timothy and Daniel O’Donnell, Charles, III and Nicole Driscoll; several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Thomas O’Donnell and his twin sister Patricia DelDotto.
His services will be held on Saturday October 30th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 29th from 5:00-8:00PM.
