Elmer (Toby) Haynes Fleming, Sr., 89, Ashland City, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Montgomery Care and Rehab. The funeral will be held at 2 PM Friday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home with Brother Barry Raper and Brother Terry Forrest officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home and from 11 AM until the hour of service Friday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Elmer was born on July 26, 1921 in Howell, KY to the late William Thomas Fleming and Carrie Lewis Hammon. He was also preceded in death by his first wife; Mildred Fleming, a son; Glen Andrew Fleming, a daughter; Kaye Rock, four brothers, four sisters and one step-daughter; Sherrie Spann. Elmer was a WWII veteran, a recipient of the silver star, also owner of Fleming Transfer and Storage. Elmer was a Mason, coached Little League Baseball, and a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; Jean Fleming, sons; Elmer (Jill) Haynes Fleming Jr. of Evansville, IN, Mike Fleming of Millington,TN, and David (Cathy) Carr Fleming of Smyrna, TN, daughters; Jo (Larry) Fleming Byrd of Bowling Green, KY, Donna (Ed) Swaffer of Clarksville, Vicki (Doug) Freeman of Knoxville, TN, and Kelly Brown of Irwin, PA, one sister; Peggy Waters of Clarksville, step-children; Randy Biggerstaff, Barry (Debbie) Gibbs, Michael Pardue, and Sandie (Denny) Daugherty, twenty-three grandchildren, thirteen step-grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Hank, Adam, Kyle, Derrick, and Stetson Fleming and Clay Byrd.
