Obituary

Captain William H. "Bill" Fisher, 71 of Titusville, Fl, passed away on Monday October 25, 2010 at Southeastern Massachusetts Rehab Center. He was survived by his loving wife of 50 years Margaret "Peggy" A. (Durant) Fisher.
Bill was born in Nantucket, MA on August 1, 1939, the son of the late Albert W. and Helena L. (McCormick) Fisher.
He attended Holy Family High and graduated from New Bedford High School in 1958 where he played on the basketball team winning 2 state championships. He then went to Tulsa, OK, he graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics. He came back to New Bedford and started his flying career with Mass Air and a charter pilot for Guimond Farms. In 1964 he was hired by Delta Air Lines and started his wonderful career in Miami, FL. He flew DC 6, DC 7, DC 9, 727, 757, and 767. He retired in 1996. He loved to be outdoors, enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family.
Survivors include his wife; his children, William H. "Buddy" Fisher and his wife Edwina of Dartmouth, Scott Fisher and his wife Maria of Pembroke Pines, FL, Karen Wagner and her companion Chris Smith of Bellbuckle, TN and Maureen Terrones and her husband David of Orange Park, FL; his sister and brother Joan Lajeunesse and her husband Donald of Titusville, FL and Albert "Bud" Fisher and his wife Anne of Fairhaven, MA. He was a loving grandfather of Kaleigh, Matthew, Kyle, Dylan, Justin, Lauren, Ryan, Alesha and a great-grandfather to Connor William; several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Lynne M. Fisher.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30th at 10 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Visiting Hours Friday, October 29th from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the charity of your choice in Bill's memory.
