Obituary

Paul W. Whitley age 61 of Abington died unexpectedly Saturday October 23, 2010. He was the devoted husband for 35 years of the late Nancy A. (Munies) Whitley. Paul was born in Boston and raised in St. Mark Parish in Dorchester, a son of George H. and Mary R. (MacNeil) Whitley of Canton. He was a graduate of Boston English High School and Stonehill College. At the time of his death Paul was a special needs tutor with Education, Inc.

He treasured the time spent with his wife Nancy who was his loving companion, soul mate and inspiration from the earliest days when they first met at Stonehill College and where Paul was a member of the basketball team. He especially enjoyed entertaining his extended family at Sunday barbecues around his pool where the challenge was to make Paul break a sweat with the latest hot sauce. He will be fondly remembered as an intelligent, funny and gregarious man with a sharp wit. Paul was a fixture at all the athletic events of his many nieces and nephews and never failed to cheer them on and provide encouragement. He was the special master to his devoted dog Clancy.


In addition to his parents Paul is survived by his brothers and sisters Ellen Whitley of Quincy; Robert Whitley and his wife Janet of Canton; Mary Whitley-Collins of Cohasset and Mark Whitley and his wife Maryann of Quincy. He was the brother of the late Joan Whitley. Paul also leaves his mother in law Martha Munies of Brockton and his brothers in law Russell Munies of Middleboro, John Munies W. Yarmouth and James Munies of E. Bridgewater.
All are invited to Paul’s Funeral Mass Friday October 29, 2010 in St. Edward/ St. Edith Stein Parish 631 N. Main St., Brockton at 10:30 AM. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours are omitted. Donations in Paul’s name may be made to Stonehill College Office of Development 320 Washington St. Easton MA 02357.
