Obituary

Martinez, GA – Dr. C. Glyn Williams, Distinguished Emeritus in Economics, 82, went to sleep in Christ, Sunday, October 24, 2010

The family will have a closed farewell meeting at the home and will receive friends on Friday, October 29, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM also at the home.

Dr. Williams is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy; his five children, Karen Curtin, Boston, Mass, Andrew Williams, Derry, NH, Kim Laramee, Leesville, SC, Karen Perryman, Martinez, GA, Kendra Hammons, Chapin, SC; his six grandchildren, Sarah and John Curtin, Boston, Mass, Jason Laramee, Leesville, SC, Joseph Laramee, US Army, Fort Sill, OK, Evan and Cole Perryman, Martinez, GA; his sister, Margaret Jones of Wales, UK; a niece and three nephews all of Wales, UK; and his former wife and friend, Penny Williams, Derry, NH.

Dr. Williams received his doctorate with excellence at UVA chaired by President Reagan’s security advisor, James Schlesinger. He authored Labor Economics, required reading in the US and Europe for many years, was a winning 26-mile marathoner running 10 miles a day and 18 miles each on Saturday and Sundays. Dr. Williams was the Editor of the Wall Street Review of Books, was televised by BBC and BBC Wales in his class on Reaganomics, the elections in the South and during his tenure as President of the Columbia Ballet and Columbia Choral Society shown widely in UK and Europe. He was a dedicated servant of Christ and “kept the faith”.
