Obituary

Trautwein, Sr., Charles K., 84, of Louisville passed away at Jewish Hospital on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Charles has retired from Falls City Brewery and Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital

He was an Navy veteran of WWII.

Charles was a member of St. Helens Catholic Church, St. Vincent Depaul, Knights of Columbus, VFW 40/8, St. Joe’s Orphanage, and Jackson Democrat Club.

He was the past commander of American Legion, Dixie Post 220, started sons of American Legion, and was an assistant Scoutmaster Troop 31.
Charles was also a Precinct Captain of the Shively Area, member of Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and volunteered for many church and civic charities, including soup kitchens.

He was also an avid volunteer for the City of Shively, St. Helens, St. Denis, Butler High School, Bishop David High School, and Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.

Charles is preceded in death by his brother, James Trautwein.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Dolores (Brossart)Trautwein; children, Johnny Trautwein, Geary Trautwein, Sr. (Linda), Susan Oliver (Terry), Charles K. Trautwein, Jr. (Mary Jo), and Timothy Trautwein; sisters, Dorothy Burton and Delores Reed (Jerry); grandchildren, Patrick Trautwein, Geary Trautwein, Jr, Jennifer Nichols (Jason), Justin Oliver (Mara), Carly Peerce (James), Kyle Trautwein, and Stacey Trautwein; four great-grandchildren; and a beloved dog, Bree.

Funeral service will be 1pm Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with graveside service at 11am on Saturday, October 29 at Louisville Memorial Gardens – West.

Visitation will be from 2-9 on Wednesday and from 10am till time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Alzheimer’s Assocation.
