Obituary

James E. “Gene” King, 82 of Medford, died Monday after a brief illness in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, MA.

Born, raised and lived all his life in Medford, he was the son of the late Margaret (Gilleland) and John F. King.

Gene was a Salesman, with the former L.J. Risman Co. in Medford for most of his life and retired in 1984. He was a proud member of the 1945 State Championship Medford High School Baseball team. Gene was also a member of the Barry Park Lunch Group of Medford. He enjoyed many good times at his beach house in Sandwich and growing tomatoes. A late U.S. Navy veteran Seaman First Class of WW II from 1946-1947.

Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth J. “Betty” (O’Hearn) King. Devoted father of Miriam Marotta and her husband Ralph of Winchester, Margaret Frattura and husband Michael of Woburn, James King Jr. and his wife Debra, Elizabeth Lepore and her husband Marty, Nancy King all of Medford. Loving grandfather of Nicole, Jimmy, Matthew, Michael, and the late Brittany and Samantha. Brother of Margaret Egitto of Medford, and the late John King and Dorothy Frawley.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Thursday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10 AM.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 8.

Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
